Roger Federer has arrived in Halle (Westfalen) for the 2012 Gerry Weber Open tennis championship. The Swiss superstar was welcomed by tournament director Ralf Weber on Sunday afternoon.

The 20th edition of Germany’s only grass court tournament will witness various superstars of the tennis world such as Federer, Rafael Nadal, Tomas Berdych and many more. Indian stars Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Rohan Bopanna and Prakash Amitraj competed regularly in the long history of this tournament, but sadly none of the Indian players will be seen in action this year.

“We are very proud that Roger is back in Halle,” said Ralf Weber, while welcoming Federer with a bouquet of flowers.

Roger Federer was also a happy man on this sunny day in Germany. “I’m happy to participate once again in the Gerry Weber Open. We had a lovely and sunny weather at my arrival. I hope the weather will be the same in the coming days,” Federer told.
