Shillong Lajong FC will take on Mumbai FC in their third and final Group C match of the 35th Federation Cup 2014 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi on Tuesday at 16.35 IST. The match will be telecast live on Ten Action.

Having lost 6-0 to Mohun Bagan in their second game, Shillong Lajong FC will find it hard to qualify for the semifinals as the numbers may not go in their favour. Mohun Bagan are already top of Group C with 6 points and a goal difference of +7, which looks enough to send them through to the semifinals.

Shillong Lajong will still be giving it their all when they take on the Mumbaikars tomorrow. Even after losing their previous match to Mohun Bagan, Lajong will go into the game as favourites with Mumbai FC struggling to find their place in the competition with two consecutive defeats.

Cornell Glen’s performance in the first drubbing against Salgaocar will still be seen as a potential threat for Mumbai FC. Services from the likes of Taisuke Matsugae and Boithang Haokip and a much disciplined defending will be the key for Lajong’s performance on Tuesday.

Mumbai FC will be tricky opponents having brought back Nigerian striker Henry Ezeh for his second stint at the club and adding midfielder Sehnaj Singh and defender Rahul Bheke as well. Even though they started poorly in the I-League they have remained unbeaten in their previous five matches in the league which have come as a result of their additions to their squad.

Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil will know of Lajong’s strengths after his team were beaten 3-2 in their previous meeting in Pune. Cornell Glen was again impressive in that match, scoring a brace for Lajong. Their I-League resurgence however has not been a motivation for Mumbai FC in the Federation Cup as they still have not found a win out of their two games.

The odds however are not the same this time around with Mumbai FC having nothing much to lose and they might go all out in saving their pride.

The second Group C match of the day will be played between Mohun Bagan and Salgaocar FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 19.00 IST.
