Delhi Dynamos FC v Chennaiyin FC

Delhi Dynamos FC played host to Chennaiyin FC in another first Hero Indian Super League (ISL) encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi today.

Delhi Dynamos caught everyone with surprise as the hosts took the lead less than a minute into the game. Alessandro Del Piero played a short corner and the ball was then forwarded to Wim Raymaekers who fired a well-placed shot past Chennaiyin FC goalkeeper Gennaro Bracigliano.

The home side doubled their lead in the 21st minute when former Indian international Steven Benedic Dias delivered a perfect cross from the right side and Danish striker Mads Junker headed home with a great flying header.

Chennaiyin FC had a disappointing game in the first half and Delhi Dynamos went into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead.

The second half was a more even balanced affair as Delhi did just enough to keep their lead, while Chennaiyin FC looked not too good in their attempts to challenge the Delhi Dynamos goal.

But Chennaiyin managed to pull one back when former Brazilian international Elano hit the target with a brilliant free kick.

Delhi Dynamos sealed their win when Harmanjot Singh Khabra brought down Shylo Malswamtulunga in the box. The referee had no other option than to award the home side a penalty and Spaniard Bruno Herrero Arias converted the spot kick.

Substitute Gustavo Dos Santos put the icing on the cake with a wonderful solo run from the middle of the pitch which he finished off with a cooly finish into the back of the net.

Delhi claimed three vital points with a 4-1 win against Chennaiyin at home.
