Goa Football Development Council kit distribution at Shiroda

Shiroda was a buzz with budding footballers in Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) colours as 120 grassroots trainees received their football kit at the hands of Mahadev Naik, Industries Minister, Government of Goa, at a function held at St. Joseph’s High School, Shiroda.

GFDC Chairman Dr. Rufino Monteiro, expressing his satisfaction on the large attendance at the Centre, hoped that Shiroda would produce some very talented young rising stars for the game to fulfil the aims of GFDC and fructify the dreams of Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa.

Dr. Monteiro also thanked the partners for supporting their children and sending them for regular practise at the Centre. He also highlighted coach Julie D’Silva’s hard work and efforts in coaching the trainees and motivating them to become better footballers.

Mahadev Naik whilst outlining the various welfare measures taken for the youngsters of the village announced that through GSIDC work will soon commence on improving the ground conditions at Shiroda along with construction of stands and an indoor games complex.

Also present at the function were GFDC Council Members Shantaram Naik and Stanislaus D’Souza, besides local Panches Agostinho Dias and Constancio Luis. GFDC Shiroda Centre Head Anthony Martin Vaz welcomed the dignitaries and conducted the proceedings.
