Indian Women slump to second defeat in AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers

On a cold and rainy evening in Pyongyang, the Indian Women’s Senior National Team lost 0-10 against Korea Republic in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Kim II Sung Stadium today (April 5, 2017).

Korea Republic opened the goal scoring charts in the 12th minute when Kang Yumi’s shot from outside of the box crashed into the back of the net. Seven minutes later, Lee Min A doubled Korea’s lead as she bundled home her effort to make it 2-0 with less than 20 minutes on the clock.

Lee Geummin found in the net in the 28th minute, courtesy of an excellent cross, which was met by Lee’s head, and in the 36th minute, she scored another to make it 4-0 for Korea Republic. In the dying embers of the first half Lee Eun Mi’s shot from outside the box found the back of the net as the half-time scoreline read 5-0.

In the 64th minute, Yoo Young Aa tapped home a cross from the right flank to add to the scoreline. Lee Gueummin completed her hattrick in the 67th minute when her shot edged past Panthoi and crashed into the back of the net to make it 7-0. Captain Ji Soyun found the net in the 68th minute and a minute later Lee Soam took advantage of confusion in the Indian defence and scored to make the scoreline read 9-0.

In the dying embers of the second half, Korea Republic found the net through Ji Soyun again. The full-time scoreline read 10-0 as India slumped to their second defeat of the qualifying campaign.
