RoundGlass Football have introduced a bit of Goan flavour to its football program with the selection of two promising players from the football-crazy Konkan state.

RoundGlass Football technical director Deven Daniel from the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) has chosen Rowan Gaunkar (14) and Deva Verma (13) as goalkeepers for a training programme at the RoundGlass Football Academy.

The two “talented and promising” players have signed up for the full-time programme at the RoundGlass Football Academy, which is a three-year stint.

RoundGlass Football Academy technical director Deven Daniel said, “They are the perfect pick for the academy. We will be training and nurturing them to become better footballers, and even better individuals so that they can score ‘goals’ in any sphere of life. Both of them were overwhelmed by the decision, and are excited to join our football family.”

Rowan Gaunkar said he is excited to play in Punjab, and his quest is “to work hard and improve my reflexes as a goalkeeper.”

Deva Verma, who helped his club win the U-13 final in the Boca Juniors Tournament in Goa this year, is thrilled with his selection into the RoundGlass Football Academy. “This will be a good opportunity to pursue my passion of becoming a goalkeeper, like my icon Iker Casillas from Spain,” Deva said.
