Team India set for Bayern Munich friendly

India vs FC Bayern München

The Indian national football team will face German giants FC Bayern Munich in an exhibition match. The historic match is scheduled to take place on January 10th, 2012 in New Delhi.

The announcement was made by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) after the I-League Committee meeting earlier today.

The German club has visited India on several occasions with their 1st, 2nd and All-Star Team. The lone match of the 1st team on Indian soil till date took place in 2008, when the Bavarians led by legendary Germany keeper Oliver Kahn defeated Mohun Bagan AC in a friendly match at the Saltlake Stadium.

The match will be part of Bayern Munich’s preparations for the 2nd half of the German Bundesliga season, which will be having its traditional winter break in December/January.

Indian football fans will be able to see a full-strength Bayern team with all the superstars like Franck Ribéry, Arjen Robben, Mario Gómez and Manuel Neuer in action against our very-own Subrata Pal, Sunil Chhetri, Gouramangi Singh, etc.

Further details on the India vs FC Bayern Munich match will be disclosed soon.

The I-League Committee meeting, chaired by AIFF Senior Vice-President Subrata Dutta in the absence of AIFF President Praful Patel and Sajjan Jindal (Chairman I-League Committee), has also decided to make a few adjustments in the I-League Calendar to accommodate the upcoming matches of the Indian national team.
