The Indian national team is ready to take on Malaysia for a second time within four days in an international friendly match at the Saltlake Stadium, Kolkata on Wednesday.

India coach Savio Medeira and his team are keen to register a win against the South-East Asian visitors. Savio is expecting a tough match against Malaysia and he hopes that the Indian team will receive a lot of support from the partisan Kolkata crowd.

“Playing in Kolkata is an added pressure as the expectations will be high. But at the same time, we need to cash-in on the home support,” Savio told.

The new India coach has already stated that he will be giving all players in the squad a chance to prove themselves and that he won’t be starting with the same starting eleven he fielded in the first match on Sunday.

“We have decided to give every player a fair chance. There’s a reason why they are here. The SAFF Championship is round the corner and we need to plan and try out players accordingly,” Savio said.

Senior India midfielder Climax Lawrence feels that Savio Medeira’s long association with the Indian team will be an additional help to excel in the future.

“Savio has associated with the team in various capacities and his knowledge would come in handy. He knows what the players want,” Climax told.

The match tomorrow will be the 28th international match between India and Malaysia. India has won 10 encounters, while Malaysia were able to win 11 matches. A total of seven matches ended in a draw.

The India vs Malaysia match at the Saltlake Stadium is scheduled to kick-off at 18.30 IST (14.00 CET / 13.00 GMT / 21.00 MYT).
