Brazilian star striker Jose Ramirez Barreto hit the target in his final match for Mohun Bagan AC in an I-League encounter against Pune FC on Sunday. Mohun Bagan won the match 2-0 at the Saltlake Stadium, Kolkata.

Mohun Bagan took an early lead, when Barreto opened the scoresheet in the 6th minute. The Brazilian received a pass by Hudson Lima and put the ball past Pune FC keeper Subrata Pal to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

Pune FC tried their best to level the score and controlled the match, but they had to pay for some poor finishing upfront.

Mohun Bagan sealed their victory moments before the final whistle. Indian international Syed Rahim Nabi put Nigerian striker Odafe Onyeka Okolie in a good position and Odafe had no difficulties to double the lead.

Jose Ramirez Barreto was adjudged “Man of the Match” in his final match for the green-and-maroon side. The 35-year-old striker has scored more than 200 goals in 11 years for the Kolkata side.

The Brazilian star is probably one of the most popular faces in Indian football and he has left his mark throughout his career. Mohun Bagan felicitated Barreto at the sidelines of the match and bidded farewell to one of the best players in the history of the green-and-maroon side.
