Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to buy stake in Dempo SC

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is interested to invest in Indian football and he is in talks with I-League champions Dempo SC to buy 50% stake in the club.

Khan has won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title with his cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders a few days ago and he is now shifting his interest to football. The Bollywood superstar is said to be interested to buy a 50% stake in the Goa-based football team for Rs. 300 Million (30 crores).

“Shah Rukh has shown interest in Dempo. Talks are still going on and it will take some time to finalise the deal. The modalities are yet to be worked out,” Dempo’s coach cum secretary Armando Colaco told to IANS.

“We are still working out how to use Shah Rukh’s image to boost the club. Hopefully we will have a great deal,” Armando continued.

Dempo SC chairman Srinivas Dempo has met the Bollywood actor a few times in the last couple of days and both sides are hopfull to reach an agreement.

Dempo SC are currently the most successful Indian football club having won five of the last eight I-League/NFL titles. The Goan team has also bought a 34% stake in Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland for 12 Million Euros to get technical know-how and create an avenue for talented Indian footballers into Europe.

Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in the beautiful game could take Indian football to a new level with increasing interest in the corporate world and media.

We have to wait and see, if Khan and Dempo SC will reach an agreement and how things will continue, if “King Khan” associates himself with Indian football.
