India to face Syria in Nehru Cup opener

India to face Syria in Opening Match

The Indian national team will kick-off the 2012 Nehru Cup in an opening match against Syria on August 22. All the Nehru Cup matches will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.

African giants Cameroon, Nepal and the Maldives will be the other teams in the five-nation tournament. India is the defending champion and Wim Koevermans’ team is eager to win the title for a third consecutive time.

The five teams will meet in a group stage first, before the league winner and runners-up compete in the final scheduled to take place on September 2.
