The German Clásico: FC Bayern v Borussia Dortmund

FC Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund

The German Bundesliga is gearing up for a very special match on Saturday which could be called “The German Clásico”… It’s the clash of the titans – it’s FC Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund!

UEFA Champions League finalists FC Bayern Munich have already an eleven point lead over their arch rivals and defending champions from the Ruhr area. But both teams share a long rivalry which promises another entertaining encounter at the Allianz Arena tomorrow.

Dortmund defeated Bayern five times in a row in league and cup matches, before the Bavarians finally secured a win in the German SuperCup in August.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and company are full of confidence after becoming the fastest ever side to secure the top spot for the winter break with a 2-0 win against SC Freiburg and 37 points to their account so far.

But Jupp Heynckes’ team will face a tough test against a talented Dortmund side which look matured this season. Dortmund impressed the football world with excellent performances in the on-going UEFA Champions League and the choir of young starlets like Mario Götze and Marco Reus are really on fire.

Expectations are high on both sides ahead of the clash. Both teams will be looking for a win which could be virtually a title decider although we are just approaching the “half-time” of this Bundesliga season 2012/13.

The match will be a very emotional one not only based on the rivalry and long history of both clubs, but also quality wise as the two best German teams of recent years take on the battlefield.

The international interest in “The German Clásico” is huge! A record-breaking 203 countries will broadcast the match LIVE and/or deferred, while more than 500 journalists are expected in Munich for the match.
