Lionel Messi has won the 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or Award ahead of Andrés Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argengtine international received the most votes from the national team captains, national team coaches and journalists who took part in the voting.

US Women’s national team striker Abby Wambach clinched the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year ahead of her teammate Alex Morgan and five-time winner Marta (Brazil).
