The Kerala State Team will face an Africa XI as part of their preparations for the 67th Santosh Trophy 2013.

The Africa XI will comprise African players playing their football with Keralite 2nd Division teams such as Eagles FC and Josco FC. The match will be played next week and it is seen as a good test for the Kerala State Team probables ahead of the final team selection.

A total of 48 probables were called up to the Kerala State Team camp, while eleven players were dropped after the first training week. The remaining players have been undergoing training for the past one month under the watchful eyes of chief coach M.M. Jacob in their quest to win the national championship after a gap of eight years.

The Kerala State Team played three practice matches during their camp so far. The team won their practise matches against the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) and Josco FC, while they drew with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). The squad was reduced by another five players after the practise matches.

M.M. Jacob’s team is currently in Aluva and they might also face a select team from the “Goal 2013” Inter-Collegiate Tournament beside the match against the Africa XI.

The announcement of the final Kerala State Team squad for the 67th Santosh Trophy 2013 is expected next week.
