Salgaocar FC sign Scottish striker Darryl Duffy

Salgaocar FC completed the signing of striker Darryl Duffy after his successful trial with the club.

The 29 year old becomes the third foreigner to join the ‘Green Brigade’ for the 2013-14 season. Duffy started his career with Glasgow Rangers and has featured for major sides such as Hull City and the Swansea City from Wales. He joins Salgaocar FC from Cheltenham Town and top scored for them during the 2011-12 season.

Duffy has been training with the SFC team for a week and has only good things to say. “The coach is doing a lot of things, inculcating good sleeping patterns, eating habits… The training system is mostly the same. The players are a friendly bunch, they’re really nice and I’m looking forward to playing with them,” he stated.

Salgaocar FC’s General Secretary, RAJ Gomes said that the Scot was an experienced striker who has played with top clubs and he hoped that he would use this platform to show everyone what he could do. “We’re looking forward to some good football,” he said.

“I’m happy things have worked out,” said Rhys Mascarenhas, Duffy’s manager. “Salgaocar was looking for a good striker and with Darryl’s experience in playing for top teams, I’m sure he’ll play an important role in the first team this season.”

“I want to hopefully score and help Salgaocar win the league again,” smiles Duffy. “If I can bring a lot of goals, that would be very nice.”
