Dempo SC partners with St. Brittos High School Mapusa

Dempo SC has joined hands with St. Brittos High School Mapusa, to train and adopt elite young players for the age group teams of the club.

In a formal function held at the club house, the Headmaster of St. Brittos High School, Fr. Cedric Fernandes signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Club Director Shrinivas V. Dempo and Head Coach Arthur Papas.

Fr. Cedric expressed his gratitude towards the club and urged Dempo management to harness talents from North Goa so as to make Dempo a complete community based team.

“Traditionally not many football clubs have been able to tap the talent from North Goa. But, with Dempos showing interest towards our players I am sure there will be many stars in football from North Goa,” said Fr. Cedric.

The club is revamping their youth structure by creating larger opportunities for young players to showcase their talent. Their main focus will be to develop players in the age bracket of 14 to 18 years old and induct the finest talents into their age group teams.

Keeping a close look at the proceedings will be Dempo’s Head Coach Arthur Papas. “Player development is something which is close to my heart, It is better for us if we open such football centers for the junior teams so that the best players can be spotted at the right age,” said Papas. A training plan is being devised by the junior coaches of the club under the supervision of Papas which will be custom made for each adopted school teams.

Club Director Shrinivas Dempo distributed the kit to the children and expressed his happiness over the project. “I am glad that we have taken this initiative to reach to the various schools and spot talents among them. The main idea behind this plan is to develop the overall personality of the children along with creating opportunities for them to play at a higher level. Over the years, we would like to train and develop the best among them for our senior teams,” said Dempo.

According the MoU signed by the club, the school children will receive knowledge and training about fitness within the game, sharpening of their technical skills, guidance on proper nutrition and exercise, injury prevention seminars along with a proposal for holding football camps for school children in Mapusa. Dempo SC will be providing the entire kit to the school for the season. Last month, the club had signed a similar MoU with Fr. Agnel’s High School, Pilar. Both the schools have been fairly successful in football tournaments across Goa.
