UEFA Supercup 2013

UEFA Champions League winners FC Bayern Munich have won the UEFA Supercup 2013 with a ?-? win against UEFA Europa League champions Chelsea FC.

Chelsea took an early lead despite a strong start by Bayern Munich. Fernando Torres found the back of the net, when he slotted home a cross by German international André Schürrle in the 8th minute.

The entertaining match at the Eden Arena in Prague was a closely contested tie, while Bayern dominated the proceedings although Chelsea tested Bayern on various occasions. Bayern levelled the score line in the second half, when UEFA Best Player in Europe Award winner Franck Ribéry put the ball past Chelsea keeper Čech with a superb right-footed long-ranger.

But the Germans lost the domiance after another powerful twenty minutes and they were lucky not to conceed a second goal twice as Chelsea were denied by keeper Manuel Neuer and the cross-bar.

Both teams settled for a 1-1 draw after the full 90 minutes and the UEFA Supercup 2013 went on to an extra-time to find a winner.

10-man Chelsea took once again the lead as Eden Hazard cut in from the left side and beat Neuer with a long-range shot. Bayern increased the pace and the game turned into an one-way game.

The Bundesliga champions put heavy pressure on the Chelsea defence and keeper Čech kept his side on the winning side with various brilliant saves.

But Javi Martínez scored the equaliser for Bayern as most of the spectators were getting ready to celebrate Chelsea. The totally unmarked Spaniard levelled the score with a shot from close range.

The dramatic match needed a penalty shoot-out, which ended in favour of Bayern Munich.
