Götze and Schweinsteiger to miss World Cup Qualifiers

Germany coach Joachim Löw will miss the services of Bayern Munich duo Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Götze in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Schweinsteiger sustained an ankle sprain sustained in Bayern’s Bundesliga match with SC Freiburg last Tuesday and he is yet to recover from the injury. Mario Götze twisted an ankle during the UEFA Supercup 2013 match yesterday [+ read more] and he has also torn the capsule which encases the joint.

Götze will be out of action for three weeks, while Schweinsteiger is expected to return to normal training after the break for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Joachim Löw is yet to decide, if he would like to nominate two other players to replace the injured players to his squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Austria on September 6 and the Faroe Islands on September 10.
