German Hotel-Residence Klosterpforte is auctioning an original 2013 UEFA Champions League Final matchball signed by all players of champions FC Bayern Munich in support of German charity “Aktion Lichtblicke e.V.”.

Klosterpforte manager Reinhold Frie received the ball from his good friend and Bayern Munich assistant coach Hermann Gerland. Frie decided to auction the ball to raise some money for the “Aktion Lichtblicke e.V.”.

“Aktion Lichtblicke e.V.” was launched in 1998 to help underprivileged kids, teenagers and families in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The charity is supported by the 45 local radio stations in the state, the framework programme radio NRW, the Caritas and the Diakonie Rheinland-Westfalen-Lippe.

The Klosterpforte is a renowned hotel in the German town of Marienfeld, which also offers excellent facilities for football teams for professional training. The Klosterpforte is regularly used for training purposes by football teams from all over the world including national teams. The hotel was also also the main base for the Portuguese national football team during the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the venue has been rated “excellent” by FIFA.

Reinhold Frie and his Klosterpforte team hope that the auction will raise a lot of money ahead of the Christmas season. The UCL Final matchball auction is run on global online auction website eBay.com.
