The EDU Football League (EFL), an initiative for the development of football at the grassroots level by YFC Rurka Kalan, has kicked-off its competitive matches in Kanha Dhesian village near Rurka Kalan, Tehsil Phillaur, Jalandhar District in Punjab on Sunday.

The first match of the day in the Under-12 age category was a comprehensive 4-1 victory by FA Shankar against Baba Dhyan Das FA. In the other Under-12 encounters, GNA Enterprises FA won by 3-0 against Narinder Singh Punewal FA, Welfare Wing FA defeated Soccer Star FA World 1-0, while Khalsa Club from Attari thrashed Baba Balwant Singh FA 4-0. Baba Bhai Gurdial FA lost to Shaheed Udham Singh FA by a solitary goal while Village Tigers FA beat Baba Sidh FA 3-1.

In the Under-14 age group, Daljit Kaur Academy, UK and STS FA won by 1-0 against FA Attari and IndPro FA respectively. FA Shankar walloped Baba Dhyan Dass FA, 4-1 while Santokh Singh Bassi FA pumped 5 goals past Dashmesh Youth FA, Chak Muglani.

In the Under-16 category, the match between Shaheed Bhagat Singh FA and YFC Bundala ended in a 1-1 draw. Central Bank of India, Goraya lost to Head Master Ujagar Singh FA, Jandiala by one goal while Philips FA Chandigarh beat YFKC Kanha Dhesian 3-0.
