Pep Guardiola: Arsenal are a top, top side

German giants FC Bayern Munich are gearing up for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday.

The defending champions are high on confidence ahead of the away game with impressive performances at domestic level. Bayern have been easily winning their matches in the Bundesliga and the German Cup (DFB-Pokal) in the last weeks and months and the Bavarians are looking forward to face a tough challenge against Arsenal.

Coach Pep Guardiola has lot of respect for Arsène Wenger’s team despite the poor performances of the Premiership side in the last couple of games. “Arsenal are a top, top side. We know we’ll have to play better than we did today,” Guardiola told after Bayern’s 4-0 win against SC Freiburg on Saturday.

Thomas Müller underlined the statement of his coach, while saying “We’ll give 100 percent. It’ll be a tough game in London. We know we’ve got to go right to the pain barrier.”

“We’re off to London feeling good and with a great run under our belts. There’s no reason why that should end against Arsenal,” Müller added.

Arsenal on the other hand have secured a much needed win against Liverpool FC in the FA Cup on Sunday. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and German international Lukas Podolski scored the goals for the Gunners in their 2-1 win at the Emirates.

The Arsenal v FC Bayern encounter promises to be an entertaining clash between to big names of European football. Bayern are contended to be the top favourites against Arsenal, but Arsène Wenger will surely have one or two surprises left for the Germans.
