Sunando Dhar (CEO, I-League) represented the All India Football Federation in a Soccerex initiative which was held at the Marriott Hotel, Amman, Jordan on May 5, 2014. Besides Dhar, AFDP Founder HRH Prince Ali Bin Hussein and Duncan Revie (CEO, Soccerex) were also present as India stayed one of the key talking points in the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Revie announced that Kushal Das (General Secretary, AIFF) would lead a delegation of key stakeholders from Indian football to the Soccerex Asian Forum in May 2014.

The Soccerex Asian Forum will be held on May 13 & 14 at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre by the Dead Sea in Jordan.

Speaking at the same event, Dhar opined that he was very much ‘optimistic about India’s football growth in the next 5-6 years.’

“India is going through a major transformation and the results of the last decade’s work are visible. India is witnessing huge progress on various fronts which include the I-League, the National Team Development Programme and Grassroots Development,” he said.

“India has won the bid to host the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup [+ India 2017 Facebook page] which will be a game changer for the sport in the country,” he added.

Osvaldo Ardiles, Brand Ambassador for Soccerex, also a member of the triumphant 1978 Argentina squad which won the 1978 World Cup was also present at the event.

The Soccerex Asian Forum would be followed by the Soccerex Global Convention which will be held in Manchester from September 6-10, 2014 which would be attended by a delegation of around 50 representatives from Indian football. The delegation would be facilitated by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI) along with AIFF.
