One of history’s greatest athletes, four-time Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson will be sharing his experiences of elite performance and training at the Soccerex Global Convention, taking place on September 6-10 in Manchester.

A first for the global football industry, Johnson will be discussing how he has transferred his experiences and successes from the track, to his company Michael Johnson Performance.

Some of the biggest sporting teams in the world have benefitted from the training with MJP including the Dallas Cowboys, Manchester United, Arsenal, Fluminense, The FA, Williams F1 and the Ivory Coast national football team will be using MJP’s global headquarters in Dallas as their pre-World Cup training base.

In addition to the Studio 1 session, a private workshop will see Johnson address club and league representatives in an open environment, to discover the variety of services MJP offers, including in-season and off-season training programs, biomechanical analysis, nutrition assessments, remote coaching, physical therapy and injury prevention programs for youth, college and professional athletes and teams.

As part of MJP’s partnership with Perform based at St. Georges Park, they will be holding a pre-season summer prep-camp at the national football centre.

The keynote speech and workshop form a key part of the dedicated performance content at the Convention which recently saw the Football Medical Association sign a MoU with Soccerex to ensure the attendance of senior medical and performance experts from all four professional leagues.

Michael Johnson said: “Having spent a significant amount of time in the UK I’m well aware of the tremendous commitment and resources Soccer teams are putting into their sport science department, so I’m looking forward to meeting them at Soccerex and sharing our ideas with them.”

Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie commented: “Michael is an athlete whose talents and achievements are recognised across all sports around the globe; it is no surprise that his company is at the forefront of the performance industry just as he was throughout his career. It is a fantastic opportunity for the football industry to learn from one of the most knowledgeable and passionate people involved in sport.”

The Convention kicks off with the Football Festival on 6-7th September, with the Conference starting on Monday 8th September. A packed international exhibition and a programme of networking and social events complete the schedule for what is widely acknowledged as the world’s leading football business event.
