Balwant Singh celebrates his goal for Churchill Brothers

Kolkata heavyweights Mohun Bagan AC have secured the signature of India forward Balwant Singh for the 2014-15 season.

The 27-year-old struck 17 goals last season including four in Churchill Brothers SC’s Federation Cup triumph.

Having switched allegiance from Salgaocar FC last season, Balwant scored ten I-League goals and three during Churchill’s AFC Cup campaign.

Balwant has also represented India at international level making his debut for India B in 2010 against Kyrgyzstan, besides also playing for the India U-23 national team in the 2010 Asian Games netting a goal in the team’s 4-1 victory over Singapore U-23.

The Punjab lad made his senior team debut against Bangladesh in Goa earlier this year in March. India drew the match 2-2.
