The Holland touring India U-16 national team, represented by the All India Football Federation Under-16 Kalyani Regional Academy Boys, trained at the famed KNVB Training Centre yesterday, August 7.

The 18-member Indian contingent were taught the basics of the Beautiful Game by KNVB instructor Ivaar van Dinteren. Dinteren is a coach of Dayton Dutch Lions, a 3rd Division USL Professional Division club backed by Dutch side FC Twente Enschede in the United States.

The Boys – who form the core of the India Under-16 national team which won the SAFF U-16 Championship last year in Nepal – were put through the paces for an hour and half in which emphasis was laid on technique. Small sided games with quick passing and more actions per minute followed the technical training session.

The Boys were then taken to watch training session of Ajax Youth Teams.

AIFF U-16 Academy play Broersen International Youth Tournament on Saturday, August 9 in Heemskerk against the likes of S.B.V. Excelsior, FC Volendam and Spanish side Deportivo Saint Maickol.

There is also the prestigious RKTVC B Top Tournament a week later in Tiel where they get to rub shoulders with the colts of FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar along with RKTVC’s own Youth Team.

Besides, the AIFF Colts would also be playing Friendly matches against the Academy sides of PSV Eindhoven, FC Schalke 04 of Germany and KRC Genk of Belgium.
