India gains a spot in the latest FIFA World Ranking

The Indian national team has gained a spot in the latest FIFA World Ranking released by world govering body FIFA today.

India is now ranked a joint 150th in the world (26th in Asia) together with Malta. Both countries have 143 points to their tally, while Antigua and Barbuda (149th / 156 points) and Singapore (152nd / 140 points) flank the two nations.

Afghanistan remains the best nation from the South Asian (SAFF) region ahead of the Maldives (145th), India, Pakistan (164th), Nepal (166th), Bangladesh (170th), Sri Lanka (178th) and Bhutan (208th).

2014 FIFA World Cup winners Germany continue to lead the FIFA World Ranking ahead of runners-up Argentina (2nd), the Netherlands (3rd), Colombia (4th) and Belgium (5th).

Costa Rica (15th) and Sierra Leone (50th) have claimed their highest-ever position since the introduction of the FIFA World Ranking in 1993. Lesotho (105th / up 26 / 302 points / plus 89 points) have made the biggest move by ranks and points.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be released on September 18.
