ISL side Mumbai City FC sign Freddie Ljungberg

Hero Indian Super League (ISL) side Mumbai City FC have announced the signing of former Swedish international Fredrik Freddie Ljungberg.

Ljungberg will be the Marquee Player of Mumbai City FC in the inaugural season of the new league set to kick-off on October 12 when Mumbai City travel to Kolkata to face Atlético de Kolkata in the opening match at the Saltlake Stadium.

The 37 year old winger will add more experience to the impressive Mumbai City FC squad. The Mumbaikars have already secured the services of French star Nicolas Anelka and former German international Manuel Friedrich, besides a strong Indian pool including the likes of India stars Subrata Pal, Syed Rahim Nabi, Lalrindika Ralte and Sushil Kumar Singh.

Ljungberg has represented Sweden in 75 senior international matches which also include two FIFA World Cups (2002 and 2006) and two UEFA Euros (2004 and 2008).

The Swedish star is best known for his successful nine years at English Premiership side Arsenal.
