In a crunch match, Sporting Clube de Goa and Laxmi Prasad Sports Club will battle it out in Round 8 of GFA’s Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Wednesday. The kick off time is 16.00 IST.

Laxmi are currently on 13 points from seven games, while Sporting Goa is on 11 points from the same number of matches. With one round left to play after this game, the stakes are extremely high as both teams are trying to secure a top five finish to qualify for the Super League.

After a slow start to the season, Sporting Goa has started to find their groove and coach Oscar Bruzon expects the recent winning form to continue.

“We have had two minor accidents and now we are on the fast road to recovery,” remarked Bruzon.

“We are looking forward to the game. My players know what they have to do, it should be exciting,” stated Laxmi Prasad coach Valentine Ezeugo.

Free scoring Sporting Goa has netted 17 goals from seven matches, which is the highest in the league till date. India international Victorino Fernandes has contributed ten goals for the Flaming Oranje to put him on top of the GPL scorer’s chart.

Laxmi on the other hand have netted ten goals and they have come from various sources including Alvito Miranda, Marcus Mascarenhas, foreigner Ndubuisi Opara and former Sporting Clube de Goa star Mackroy Peixote.
