Shillong Lajong FC embarks on a fresh season campaign and will be seen in action at the 36th Federation Cup 2015. This year Goa will play host to the annual knock-out tournament.

The Reds are placed in Group B along with Pune FC, Salgaocar, Mohun Bagan AC and Bengaluru FC. Shillong Lajong FC will face Pune FC in their first match on Monday at the Tilak Maidan, Goa.

Lajong’s Federation Cup squad boosts of the Academy boys who have been gifted the opportunity to play in the club’s Senior Team after their impressive run during the Shillong Premier League which they won.

The Junior Boys who have made it to the Senior Team this year include Vishal Kaith, Nitin Meel, Nim Dorjee Tamang, Sandeep Singh, Pritam Kumar Singh, Rupert Nongrum, Jacob Lalrawngbawla, Joseph Lalfakzuala, Lalrammuana, Bipin Singh and Redeem Tlang. They will be supported by senior players like Aiborlang Khongjee, Durga Boro, Boithang Haokip, Robin Gurung, Kunzang Bhutia, Seiminlen Doungel, Samuel Shadap, David Ngaihte and Milan Singh.

The Reds departed for Goa on Saturday morning and coach Thangboi Singto hopes to guide them through a successful run in the tournament this year.

Speaking from Goa, Thangboi Singto said; “Our Federation Cup preparations could have been better. We wish we had more time to train together as a team.”

“However, we go with a positive approach for our first match against Pune FC on Monday. We are taking the cream of our young talented boys to give them exposure to a higher level of competition. Though Pune FC will be a very tough opponent, I believe the boys are ready to prove themselves and help the team to do well in this year’s Federation Cup,” he said.
