The India U-16 national team currently preparing for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup defeated SpVgg Greuther Fürth U-16 3-2 on Friday (August 14, 2015) in Fürth, Germany.

After defeating FSV Frankfurt 2-0 last time around, the Indian colts suffered a shaky start and succumbed to an early goal by their German opponents in the 11th minute.

The Indian contingent came close to equalizing their deficit minutes later as Gaston D’Silva’s shot rattled the cross bar.

The German opponents doubled their lead in the second half, after leading 1-0 at half-time, courtesy of a penalty kick, following a D’Silva challenge in the penalty box.

Not to be deterred by the two goal cushion of their opponents, the Indian colts scalped one back within minutes as Amarjeet converted the penalty kick, following an uncanny tackle on Ninthoi which prompted the referee to point to the spot, in the 44th minute.

With their deficit halved, spirits high and the flow with them, the Indian colts took the game by its surf and scored seconds later to equalize their deficit. A lighting quick counter attack move, which was initiated by Sanjeev was finished with sheer finesse by Aman to make the score-line 2-2.

In the 54th minute, the provider, Sanjeev, turned goal-scorer as he tapped the ball home to give the Indian colts advantage and a solitary goal lead over their German opponents.

The Indian contingent held tight to their solitary goal lead and at the end of full time the score-line read 3-2 in favor of the Indian colts.

The match was played in two halves of 40 minutes each.
