The fomer Brazilian international and FC Bayern Munich star joined FC Goa as their marquee player and he will be one of several Brazilian imports in the Goan squad, which will be coached by legendary Zico.

Lúcio and his FC Goa teammates were introduced to their fans at a presentation ceremony on Thursday. The 2002 FIFA World Cup winner met the FC Goa media team for a quick interview at the sidlines of the event.

Let’s find out what Lúcio had to say…

How do you rate this squad of FC Goa? What do you feel is the level of this team since you are the most experienced player and there are many younger players?
They are all good as a team that’s what I feel. It does not depend on an individual player. I feel the team can perform well this season and can be champions.

What influenced you to join FC Goa in the ISL Season 2?
It was a new challenge for me. I spoke to Zico and he explained to me the nature of the league how it was and the discussion with him was what made me join this project here at FC Goa.

What was the reaction of the team after beating Saudi Arabian champions Al Shabab?
These games are preparations and friendly matches so we don’t really look at the results we try to make the most out of the game.

What impresses you about FC Goa? What are their strengths?
I feel the group is very good. They all come from different backgrounds and train hard. They have gelled very well as a team.

What do you predict for your former teammate Roberto Carlos this season?
All the players need to play well in his team – it cannot depend fully on him. They all need to support him as teammates. Because I have played for many clubs and know that it does not matter if there is one good player in a team all need to focus and train hard together.
