Mohammedan Sporting Club, who will be the only team from Kolkata to participate in the Second Division League 2015/16, has played a practice match against Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), as part of their preparations for the league, commencing from Saturday.

Having dominated the midfield battle Mohammedan Sporting had a number of half-chances in front of the Railway’s goal, but eventually failed to convert those chances into a goal as the match ended on a barren draw at the Mohammedan Sporting Ground.

After the match head coach Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. said, “The one should not judge the team’s strength on the basis of performance in Bangladesh. We went there with a underprepared side and despite all the difficulties I thought we put up a decent fight there with limited resources. But the Second Division League will be a whole different ball game altogether, fans will see a completely new and improved Mohammedan Sporting Club side for Second Division League.”

“In the squad we have a great blend of youth and experience. Therefore, I feel Mohammedan Sporting will emerge as one of the contenders to win the league,” he added further.

Mohammedan Sporting Club were grouped along side Gangtok Himalayan SC, Fateh Hyderabad AFC, Guwahati FC and Neroca FC in the Eastern Conference and they will start their campaign against Guwahati FC on Saturday at Barasat.
