Mohammedan Sporting held to a goalless draw by Gangtok Himalayan SC

Mohammedan Sporting Club v Gangtok Himalayan SC

Mohammedan Sporting Club and Gangtok Himalayan SC split the points in a 2015/16 Second Division League Eastern Conference Round 2 encounter.

Despite dominating most of the proceedings with a host of barren chances Mohammedan could only manage to play out a goalless draw in their adopted home at Barasat Stadium on Saturday.

“I am totaly dissapointed with the result. It was a match which we should have won rather comprehesively. The credit should be given to Gangtok Himalayan SC, at one stage they looked promising for the win but boys fought well to save the day us. We will get couple of weeks before our next match so in that time we will try to rectify our mistakes,” Mohammedan Sporting coach Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. stated after the match.

However Mohammedan Sporting remain at the summit of league table with four points from two outings. The Black Panthers will face Neroca FC (Manipur) in their next fixture on December 8 at Imphal.

“It’s a huge thing for us to get a point against a big team like Mohammedan in their back-yard. We never really played for the draw but mainly because lack of experience we missed some close chances on goal. Having played with such young team I am happy about the result and we are looking forward to carry the momentum forward in our next games,” said Gangtok Himalayan SC coach A. Shantha Kumar.
