Mumbai FC crush Mumbai Warriors 9-1 in Nadkari Cup Round 1

Mumbai FC made their presence felt at the 109th Nadkarni Cup 2015 as they overran Mumbai Warriors to register a 9-1 win. Mumbai FC, a former winner of the prestigious Nadkarni Cup in the year 2008, put in a full-fledged side even after their commitments in the MDFA Elite Division games. Taisuke Matsugae captained the side which went on to demolish the Mumbai Warriors.

Mumbai FC who were attacking the far end of the ground, set the tone of play with striker Sandesh Gadkari went close in the 15th minute of the game. But it was the man in form Cletus Paul who opened the scoring in the 29th minute. The first goal opened the floodgates, with Steven Dias, Naduparambil Pappachan Pradeep and Sandesh all scoring in the first half to make score 5-0 to Mumbai at half time.

A dominant display in the first half by Mumbai it left the opposition team frustrated. With tackles flying in Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil decided to change a few faces. Regulars Steven Dias and Eric Brown coming off to be replaced by Hitesh and Malem with the former Bengaluru player gaining fitness after a small injury.

Mumbai started the second half where they left it in the first, with substitute Hitesh scoring within five minutes of starting of the second half. Soon center back Pratik Choudhary joined the party as he made it seven. It all started looking as if the Super Division side Mumbai Warriors had given all their hope, only for them to score a goal and salvage some pride.

NP Pradeep and Sandesh Gadkari rounded up the score line with both ending the game with a brace as Mumbai FC get ready to face Indian Navy in the quarterfinals of the Nadkarni Cup on November 26.
