GFA Selection came out too strong for Rosary College Navelim winning the Canara Bank GFA Inter College Women’s League Final 8-0. Velanie Fernandes and Anline Fernandes were in top form in the Final tearing the defence down with seven goals between them.

Both teams started off well and the ball was mostly played in the midfield in the early exchanges. Rasika Velip of Rosary College saved a few attempts at goal in the early match proceedings. Melisha Oliveira, Muriel Fernandes and Ansiva Vaz held the defence line in the initial 20 mins of play until GFA Selection completely took over.

Anline Fernandes opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Velanie Fernandes then scored two quick fire goals in the 26th minute and 30th minute to completely break down the enthusiasm of the Rosary College Navelim players.

Anline made it 4-0 with a fine long range shot which found the back of the net in the 34th minute. Cianna Lobo played well for GFA Selection and moved the ball really well on the left flank and made numerous passes to Velanie and Anline upfront. Marlat Cardozo also had a good game and provided good assists.

Velanie Fernandes got her hat-trick in the 44th minute unleashing a powerful low shot that completely beat the goalkeeper. Velanie made it 6-0 in favour of GFA Selection with a goal in the 48th minute.

Scindia Saundatikar and Cynthia Lobo held the defense for GFA Selection really well and gave absolutely no room for Rosary College Navelim to make any attempts at goal.

Marlat Cardozo chipped in with a goal in the 53rd minute and Anline Fernandes got a hat-trick and the final goal for GFA Selection in the 68th minute for the final score of 8-0.

The young GFA Selection was deservingly victorious and did not concede a single goal in the entire tournament to win the first-ever Canara Bank GFA Inter College Women’s League.

The “Quadros Motors – Player of the Match” award went to Velanie Fernandes of GFA Selection.
