It was raining goals in Dubai on Wednesday as the India U-16 national team, currently on an exposure trip in the United Arab Emirates, defeated local club Baniyas SC U-16 8-0.

Coming on the back of a two game winning streak, the Indian colts wasted no time in formalities and kept their foot on the gas right from the word go. Sanjeev gave India the lead as early as the 2nd minute when he netted home his opportunity following a low cross from Suresh.

Eight minutes later, the colts made it 2-0 as Aman Chhetri blasted the ball into the back of the net. With the Indian team attacking with fluidity, chances came in plenty. First a corner kick was scrambled away by the Baniyas defence line. And seconds later another corner kick was blasted over the bar by Amarjit Singh.

The Indian U-16 team tripled their lead in the 18th minute as Aman once again did sheer justice to his opportunity following a tacky one touch play around the 18 yard box.

With the half-time score-line read 3-0 in favor of the Indian colts, the second half became nothing but a formality.

In the 62nd minute, Aman Chhetri completed his hattrick as he capitalized on a well weighted Amarjit through ball and slotted it past the opponent custodian to make it 4-0.

Six minutes later, the India U-16 side extended their lead to 5-0 as Suresh Singh cleverly finished his opportunity.

Constant domination of possession and attacking fluency was meant to earn more dividends for the Indian colts and in the 75th minute, Aman Chhetri scored his fourth goal of the match to make the scoreline 6-0 in India’s favor. Two minutes later, substitute Joysana Singh scored to give India an unassailable 7-0 lead.

Sarif Khan scored in the dying embers of the match as the full time scoreline read 8-0 in favor of the India U-16 national team.
