Shillong Lajong sign Aibanbha Dohling, Konsham Chinglensana and Milan Basumatary

Aibanbha Kupar Dohling, Milan Basumatary and Konsham Chinglensana Singh

Shillong Lajong Football Club announced the signings of defenders Aibanbha Kupar Dohling and Konsham Chinglensana Singh besides forward Milan Basumatary.

Aiban is a local lad from Meghalaya who was born in Sohra (Cherrapunjee). He usually plays in a Right Back position and is known to be quick and strong. He started his football career as a teenager with the Shillong Lajong FC Academy. Then he moved to the Tata Football Academy (TFA), Jamshedpur in 2011 and is now delighted to come back to Shillong to play for the Reds.

Head Coach Thangboi Singto was pleased to secure Aiban’s signing and mentioned, “Aiban is a former Lajong Academy player Who has grown to be a good player in the Full Back position. As a Right Back position was the need of the hour, Aiban was signed. Determination, tenacity and commitment are his forte.”

Chinlensana is a Manipuri lad who stands at 6’1 feet tall, played in the Under-15 Team of Mahindra United in the MUPC Cup in 2010. He is a Centre Back who has also played for Air India for a few years before joining the Tata Football Academy in 2012. In his first year stint at TFA he played the U-19 I-League which saw his team finish as the runners-up and in the very next year, he was again part of the U-19 squad which where crowned U-19 I-League champions. In 2014, he went for an exposure trip to England where he trained with Sheffield United’s Under-19 team. The skilful defender was also part of the India U-19 squad that travelled to China for an exposure trip and played against clubs like Shanghai 2000 and the China U-17 and U-19 National Teams.

On bringing Konsham Chinglensana to the club, Thangboi Singto commented, “A young and talented defender Who passed out from TFA as the best cadet. He was a target as we found him to be the best upcoming talented defender from North East. A player who leads both on and off the field. Future Lajong captain material. He has shown what he can do during SPL where he was a mainstay in our defence.”

Milan Basumatary hails from Assam and started his football at the Kokrajhar Football Academy. He can play as a striker or an attacking midfielder. He then moved to SAI Academy in Kokrajhar and was picked up by the AIFF at the age of 15 to be trained in their AIFF Elite Academy located in Goa. He went on to play for the Academy up to the age of 19 where he has won the Under-19 I-League and gained many experiences playing in international tournaments and exhibition matches.

Head Coach Thangboi Singto was pleased with the signing and said “A regular striker of the U-19 India National Team. His quickness and sharpness in front of goals is the reason he was signed. We hope him to make an impact soon in the 1st team. As we needed a young player of his calibre upfront, he was signed from AIFF Elite Academy.”

With the signing of these players from Meghalaya, Manipur and Assam, Shillong Lajong has added more depth and talent in the squad for the upcoming 2015-16 I-League season.
