Match Commissioner not a man’s job anymore

Sudeshna Mukherjee Nag and Janice Lynrah

The two day AIFF Match Commissioners Seminar which kicked-off at the AIFF Headquarters in the Capital on August 9, 2016 included two women participants gunning to become AIFF Match Commissioners – a statement that there is interest amongst the female populace of the country when it comes to Match Operations and other activities.

Shillong Lajong’s Media Manager Janice Lynrah and Sudeshna Mukherjee Nag were among the 52 members which participated in the informative seminar that taught participants the functions of an AIFF Match Commissioner in tune with the philosophy of FIFA and AFC.

“It is heartwarming to see that women are part of most of the jobs around the nation and hence, if men can be MCs (Match Commissioners) why not women?” said Janice, who has been a regular to AIFF Seminars in context to Football Administration.

“Being a Match Commissioner brings in a lot of responsibility in the world of football and this seminar helped us learn the nitty-gritty of affairs.”

“It feels good to be one of the two female representatives in the seminar. But the passion amongst women administrators is already brimming and the next seminar could certainly see more Women participants,” she pronounced.

Meanwhile for Sudeshna Mukherjee Nag the seminar not only gave her new skill-set, it also made her feel proud. “It makes me feel proud about my participation in the AIFF MC Seminar and I thank the AIFF for inviting me to it,” informed Sudeshna.

“Over the course of the seminar I have learnt new things and acquired unprecedented knowledge. It has been a pleasure to be part of the AIFF family.”

“Women empowerment is on the rise in India and the fact that women administrators are coming for a Match Commissioner Seminar speaks volume,” she added.

Women’s football is on an exhaustive rise in India and while Indian women referees are making their mark in the footballing world it seems that Indian Women Match Commissioners are not that far behind when it comes to passion in posterity. An Indian Woman Match Commissioner for a FIFA level tournament soon, would perhaps be coming sooner than expected.
