Delhi Dynamos Football Club announced the signing of former Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Tébar Ramiro for the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).
The 30-year old defensive-midfielder has been signed after his short stint with Spanish club Unió Esportiva Llagostera. Marcos started his career as a Real Madrid CF player and is a product of the club’s academy in Madrid. He appeared 94 times for the B-Team and made one appearance for the senior team against CA Osasuna.
“I’m very excited about this new stage in my career. I am looking forward to play for the Delhi Dynamos FC. I am sure the ISL will be an enriching experience for me and I hope to take the maximum from it. My aim is to win the title this season with my new club,” said Marcos.
“I intend to learn a lot from coach Zambrotta. He’s got immense experience, I am looking forward to working with him and the rest of the team,” Marcos was quoted on the club’s head coach Gianluca Zambrotta.
The Spaniard was loaned by Real Madrid to Segunda División clubs Rayo Vallecano and Girona FC. In the last couple of years he has played for Segunda División club UD Almeria and English Championship side Brentford.
Head coach Gianluca Zambrotta is enthusiastic about what the former Real Madrid Academy product can bring to the team.
“Marcos is a very talented and experienced player. He has played against the top-flight clubs of Europe and his experience will be very useful for the team. He has an excellent tactical approach towards the game,” said Zambrotta.
The club is confident about Marcos’s addition to the squad for the upcoming season.
“He is a top-level experienced player with a lot of technical quality. We are sure he will bring a lot of stability to the team and will prove to be decisive in high tempo matches,” said the Delhi Dynamos’ Chief Technical Officer Vishnu Madhu.
During his youth career Tébar capped for Spain at the U-16 and U-17 level. Coming through in the same generation as Cesc Fàbregas and David Silva, Tébar was part of the Spanish U-17 national squad for the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2003 UEFA U-17 European Championship, winning runners-up medals in both tournaments.
