All India Football Federation (AIFF) General Secretary Kushal Das dubbed the first ever FIFA World Cup to be hosted by India – the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 – as a game changer for Indian football.

In an interview with soccerex.com, the AIFF General Secretary expressed, “We expect the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be a game changer for Indian football. We are on track with the infrastructure upgradation for the event as well as preparing the team.”

“The World Cup is a 23 day event and it is critical that we create a legacy to popularise football amongst the youth in India.”

“Recently FIFA did an inspection visit at the various venues and expressed their satisfaction and have ratified all the 6six venues.”, Das added.

Commenting on the Indian U-17 World Cup Squad, the AIFF General Secretary said, “After a two month exposure trip in Europe, they played three competitive tournaments against the likes of the national teams of USA, South Korea Brazil, Russia and Iran and performed competitively. They are playing more tournaments in Brazil and Russia in the next 2-3 months.”
