Bombay International School clinch 5 titles in South Mumbai Junior Soccer Challenger

Bombay International School, Babulnath enjoyed tremendous success and made a clean sweep in the girl’s category by winning the Under-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 titles besides the U-12 boys in the 8th QPR South Mumbai Junior Soccer Challenger 2016 played at the Western Railway grounds in Lower Parel, Mumbai. The tournament is the initiative of Milind Deora and is the organized in association with renowned English Championship side Queens Park Rangers, which was conceived and is managed by Saran Sports.

In the under-10 girls final, Bombay International School overcame Sitaram Mill Municipal School by a narrow 1-0 margin and in the under-12 girls title match they blanked NSS Hill Spring School 4-0. Meanwhile, Bombay International School had to work hard to overcome Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Fort 4-3 in the under-14 girls final and St. Anne’s High School, Fort 3-2 in the under-16 girls final.

Bombay International School also bagged the boys’ under-12 title defeating Sacred Heart School, Worli 5-0 in the final. They finished runners-up in the boys’ under-8 and under-14 events.

The Championship would also serve as a talent hunt for 50 talented youngsters, who will be shortlisted for a coaching clinic after a couple of months from which two children will be selected to train at the QPR Youth Academy, London for a two week program in 2017.

This year, the tournament witnessed over 6,400 children from 150 plus schools representing 800 teams that played in 1,100 matches.

Boys – Under-8: Campion School, Cooperage Road 1-0 Bombay International School; Under-10: Aditya Birla School 1-0 beat Christ Church ‘B’, Byculla; Under-12: Bombay International School 5-0 Sacred Heart School, Worli; Under-14: St. Mary’s SSC, Mazagon 3-0 Bombay International School; Under-16: Christ Church School, Byculla 3-1 Diamond Jubilee School

Girls – Under-10: Bombay International School 1-0 Sitaram Mill MPS; Under-12: Bombay International School 4-0 NSS Hill Spring School; Under-14: Bombay International School 4-3 Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Fort; Under-16: Bombay International School 3-2 St. Anne’s High School, Fort.
