FC St. Pauli will become the first Bundesliga 2 club to tour the United States as the club has announced a post-season tour from May 15 to 24, 2018.
St. Pauli’s tour to the United States will be organised with the support of the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) and partners Match IQ.
The Germans will face National Premier Soccer League outfit Detroit City FC (May 19, at Keyworth Stadium) and the Reserves Team of Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers (May 22, at Providence Park) during the tour.
FC St. Pauli president Oke Göttlich said: “In addition to the games it gives us an opportunity to expand on past discussions between two soccer cultures and exchange lots of ideas. We’re also looking forward to meeting our American partners Under Armour and Levi’s, our American fan clubs, a host of club officials, and the very active fan bases in Detroit and Portland.”
St. Pauli have also announced that the tour will be cancelled, if the team will be involved in the Bundesliga 2 play-offs.
