Sunrise Club beat Rising Students Club to lift 1st FAO Super Cup

Sunrise Club beat rivals Rising Students Club 2-1 to lift the Football Association of Odisha (FAO) Super Cup at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday evening.

Sunrise Club went ahead in the 11th minute through a goal from Gurpreet Singh, but the lead lasted only a minute as Rising Students Club equalized through Lakhai Murmu. At the break the match was even at 1-1.

The winner for Sunrise Club came in the 70th minute off Mohammed Fayas.

In the closing ceremony Chandra Sartahi Behera, Odisha Minister of Sports & Y.S was present as the Chief Guest, while Debashish Samantray, Odisha MLA and FAO president and Asirbad Behera, OAA Secretary were present as the Guests of Honour.

The other dignitaries present in the Closing Ceremony were FAO vice-president’s Bhakta Ballav Das, Bijaya Das, and Tadit Kumar Rout; FAO joint secretaries Avijit Paul, Bijaya Kumar Das, and Sangeeta Sharma; FAO members Kishore Kumar Biswal, Jugal Singh, Dr. S.R. Praija, Satya Mohanty, Sanjeeb Dutta, Amit Behera, Biswa Ranjan Gharei, Mohammed Arif, and Nrusingha Chandra Choudhury, besides Ranjan Biswal (Corporater- CMC), and coaches Mohammed Shahid Jabbar, Sradhanjali Samantray, and Gitanjali Khuntia.

After the final match was a felicatation ceremony in which former players in Biranchi Mohanty, Gyana Ranjan Das, Sanjib Mohanty, Basanta Behera, Mrutyunjaya Das, ranjan Malik, Akshya Behera, Mohammed Asif, Ashok Jethy, Bikram Mohanty, Rabiranjan Das and Madhusudan Das were felicitated for their achievments for Odisha football.

Thereafter the Rising Students Club woens team was felicitated and were awarded with a Cash Reward of Rs 230,000 (2,3 lakhs) as Rs 10,000 for each player, the coach and manager for their participation in the Indian Women’s League.

Then it was the turn of the Odisha State Senior Women Football Team, who finished runners-up, were also felicitated and rewarded with a Cash Reward of Rs 115,000 (1,15 lakhs) as Rs 5,000 for each player, the coach and manager.

Further the Odisha State Sub Junior Girls Football team was also felicitated and rewarded with a Cash Reward of Rs 115,000 (1,15 lakhs) as Rs 5,000 for each player, the coach and manager.

The following players – Jyoti Kumari, Sangeeta Das, Manju Ganju, Sarita Soreng – were also felicitated and rewarded with a cash reward of Rs 5,000 each for representing the India U-15 Girls in the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship.

India U-16 international Samir Kerketta was felicitated and rewarded with a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for being part of the squad for the AFC U-16 Championship.

Eleven Gun Club was presented with Trophy and Cash Reward of Rs 15,000 for being Runners-Up in the 2018 FAO 2nd Division League.

Royal Club was presented with Trophy and Cash Reward of Rs 25,000 for being Champion of the 2018 FAO 2nd Division League and they qualified to the FAO 1st Division League (Silver League) from next season onwards.

Sunshine Club were presented with Trophy and Cash Reward of Rs 50,000 for being champion in the 2018 FAO 1st Division League (Silver League) and qualified to the FAO Gold League from next season onwards.

Young Utkal was presented with Trophy and Cash Reward of Rs 75,000 for being champion in the 2018 FAO 1st Division League (Golden League) and qualified to the FAO Diamond League from next season onwards.

Sunrise Club was presented with Trophy and Cash Reward of Rs 100,000 for being champion in the 2018 FAO 1st Division League (Diamond League).

Rising Students Club was presented with a Trophy and a Cash Reward of Rs 50,000 for being Runners-Up in the 2018 FAO 1st Division League (Diamond League).

Sunrise Club was presented with Trophy and Cash Reward of Rs 100,000 for being Cchampion of the 1st FAO Super Cup 2018.
