The Chennaiyin FC Under-13 team secured an 8-0 win over Raman Vijayan Soccer School Under-13s in their penultimate 2018-19 Hero Sub-Junior League Chennai Zone game at the MVM School Ground in Chennai today. A trio of braces from Mohamed Irfan, Srinith K. and substitute E. Kannan contributed to CFC’s victory. It was the second consecutive game they had won by the same margin, having beaten the Chennai City FC U-13s 8-0 three days back.

The Chennaiyin FC U-13s will now face FC Madras U-13s in their final Chennai Zone fixture on Sunday 21st April 2019, looking to beat the latter to the top spot.

There were no changes to the CFC U-13 side from the previous game. Chennaiyin got off to a whirlwind start, making it 2-0 within the opening quarter of an hour. Mohamed Irfan scored both goals, the first of which was a brilliant curling left-footed free-kick into the top corner. The second followed five minutes later, as Irfan made a late run into the box from midfield and passed it into the bottom corner.

Buoyed by the start, CFC continued to dominate and soon made it 3-0 courtesy Srinith K., who headed home from an Ajay Kumar M. corner. RVSS then had a chance to pull one back from the penalty spot after Nagulan’s handball in the box. However, their striker missed from the spot, sending it wide.

3-0 soon became 4-0 to CFC, with the Srinith this time around returning the favour to Ajay, finding the latter in the box to apply the finish. CFC went into the break 4-0 to the good.

It was more of the same from CFC after the break, as Srinith completed his brace to make it 5-0. Substitute Kannan joined the party soon after, scoring two outstanding solo goals as CFC went 7-0 ahead. And in the closing stages, Rishibarath N. caught the RVSS defence off-guard with an unexpected run into the box, adding the gloss to make it 8-0 to CFC.
