East Bengal launch centenary logo and celebration plans

1920 - 2020: The centenary logo of East Bengal Club.

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club at a press conference in Kolkata launched their centenary logo and the plans for their centenary celebrations.

The press conference was attended by club president Dr. Pranab Das Gupta, secretary Kalyan Majumdar, assistant secretary Dr. Shanti Ranjan Das Gupta and executive committee member Debbrata ‘Neetu’ Sarkar besides former club players Baichung Bhutia, Manoranjan Bhattacharya and Bhaskar Ganguly.

While speaking, Baichung Bhutia spoke about his highlight moments in a red and gold shirt, the 1997 Federation Cup semifinal against Mohun Bagan and the 2003 ASEAN Club Cup triumphant return to Kolkata.

The club later on said that they would like to give Baichung Bhutia a final club game at the start of this season as Baichung still hasn’t officially resigned from club football.

The club also announced the dates and events for the coming weeks.

On July 28 there would be a torch rally at 9am from Kumartuli Park via Grey Street, Bidhan Sarani, Ganesh Chandra Avenue and CR Avenue to East Bengal Club where the perpetual torch will be ablaze.

On August 1, the East Bengal Club flag shall be hoisted and waved globally around 200 cities and countries at 12h noon.

In the afternoon at 5pm, the inauguration of the East Bengal Club Centenary Foundation Day will happen at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in the presence of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Further events are planed for August 12 with a further felicitation and on August 13 a blood donation camp and a free medical check-up.
