The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has announced the postponement of the SAFF Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision was made during a video conference with all the General Secretaries of the SAFF Member Associations.
The video conference was chaired by SAFG General Secretary Anwarul Huq and was called to discuss the schedule for various SAFF competitions including the SAFF Championship, SAFF U-15 Championship, SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship and SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship.
The respective General Secretaries gave their views regarding the COVID-19 challenges and opinions regarding the SAFF competitions scheduled to be held this year.
Hence taking into account SAFF has decided in principal to postpone the SAFF Championship to 2021. All youth competitions stay postponed and a decision on the same will be taken at another meeting in September.
