Bundesliga side DSC Arminia Bielefeld have announced the signing of Japan international Ritsu Doan. The 22-year-old offensive midfielder will join the Germans on loan from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven until the end of the 2020/21 season. Doan will be wearing the number 8 jersey.

“We are delighted to add another vital component to our offence with Ritsu to achieve our goals in the Bundesliga. He has a lot of international experience despite his young age, which will help our squad. So, too, the team will benefit from his playful capabilities which he gained in the Netherlands and the Japanese national team,” said Samir Arabi, Managing Director (Sports), DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

Arminia Bielefeld head coach Uwe Neuhaus said: “Ritsu is a very wilier winger with a great pace, and qualities in front of the goal and the build-up. He can be fielded flexibly in offence.”

Blue Samurai star Ritsu Doan said: “I’ve watched a few (Bielefeld) games from last season. They have impressed me very much. The prospect of playing in the Bundesliga was also an important factor when I made the decision. Furthermore, I had great conversations with Samir Arabi and Uwe Neuhaus. Therefore, I agreed to join Arminia with great excitement and I look forward to the new season.”
