ATK Mohun Bagan sign India star defender Sandesh Jhingan

Indian Super League champions ATK Mohun Bagan have announced the signing of India international defender Sandesh Jhingan on a five year contract until 2025.

27 year old Chandigarh-born Sandesh Jhingan came through the St. Stephen Football Academy before joining United Sikkim FC to make his senior debut.

After two years with the Baichung Bhutia owned club, Sandesh moved on to Mumbai FC before being picked up by Kerala Blasters FC in the 2014 ISL draft. He spend six successful years with the Blasters with loan spells for Sporting Clube de Goa, DSK Shivajians FC and Bengaluru FC.

Now Sandesh Jhingan moves to Kolkata for the first time by joining ATK Mohun Bagan, who will hope he can recreate his stellar displays for club and country.

Sandesh Jhingan said, “I am delighted to have joined ATKMB. I had a detailed chat with the coach and the owners and I admire their vision and I am very happy that they felt that I could be a part of the family.”

“I have a lot of friends already there in the team and I am looking forward to join them and start working together. And also wanna say to all the loyal fans of ATKMB that together we will become not the only the greatest team in India but in Asia as well. For Glory ‘Joy Mohun Bagan’.”

ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Antonio López Habas was excited to get Jhingan in the side and said, “Sandesh brings a new energy into the team. He is an adept player and adds immense value to our overall strategy.”
