Concacaf has announced the schedule for the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League (SCL) Play-In matches. The two matches will be played as single game ties and will be hosted by the highest-ranked club in each matchup.
In Wednesday’s Quarterfinal action, LD Alajuelense (CRC) and CD Olimpia (HON) joined Arcahaie FC (HAI) and Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) in the semifinals of the competition and qualified for the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (SCCL).
The 2020 SCL Quarterfinals culminated with CD Olimpia (HON) earning a 2-0 win over city rival FC Motagua (HON). Earlier that same night, LD Alajuelense (CRC) overcame Nicaragua’s Real Esteli FC 2-1.
The four losing Quarterfinalists, FC Motagua (HON), Real Estelí FC (NCA), Forge FC (CAN) and CD Marathon (HON) will now face off in single leg Play-In matches.
In the first of the two matchups, CD Marathon (HON) will host Forge FC (CAN). This match is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, at 10:00 pm EST (9:00 pm local).
The following night, Wednesday, December 9, Real Esteli FC (NCA) will travel to Tegucigalpa to face FC Motagua (HON). The game will kick off at 10:00 pm EST (9:00 pm local).
For all matchups in all rounds of the 2020 SCL, the highest ranked club based on the Concacaf Club Rankings will host the single leg games and pairings are determined by the tournament bracket, which can be found below.
The dates for the single leg semifinals matches and final match will be communicated by Concacaf in due course.
The two Play-In match winners will qualify for the 2021 edition of the Confederation’s flagship club competition, joining the four 2020 SCL semifinalists, and Club Atletico Pantoja (DOM), CF Monterrey (MEX), Club America (MEX), Club Leon (MEX), Cruz Azul (MEX), Philadelphia Union (USA) and the Portland Timbers (USA).
