The resolute figure of Asheer Akhtar in the defence of Mohammedan Sporting Club has brought some fear into the opposition attacking line up.

The former Bengaluru FC defender joined the Black Panthers ahead of the 2020 Hero I-League qualifiers and has already settled in and has formed a formidable partnership with skipper Eze Kingsley.

The 24-year-old took some time and spoke about how he is adjusting to life at Mohammedan SC, he said that “I want to thank the coaching staff and players for playing a huge part towards me adapting well to the team. I am doing my best in every training and game. And it’s going to be better and better form game to game.”

Asheer has played ten official games for the Black Panthers in all competitions and has scored one goal. The goal came in the previous match, as Mohammedan SC took on Gokulam Kerala. Asheer’s second-half strike along with John Chidi’s goal were enough to seal the points and make sure that the unbeaten streak is maintained.

“It felt good getting on the score sheet. I am hoping that I can score more. I want to make a positive contribution towards helping the team achieve its goals,” concluded Asheer.
